EAH: Ayces Trip To Wonderland (Happy Birthday)

Ayces runs into the Wonderland Grove. “Lizzie, I just got your hext, what’s going-“; “SURPRISE!!!” She finally catches her breath and sees all her friends gathered there together. “You don’t think we forgot your birthday”, says Maddie as she walks up to her and hooks her arm under hers. Speechless Ayces gets steered around the grove and sat down at a table piled with cake (made by Ginger Breadhouse, of course), presents and teapots. All her friends gather round, taking their seats, and smiled up to her.

  “Fairest Birthday to you.

Fairest Birthday to you.

Fairest birthday, dear Ayces.

Fairest Birthday to you”  

The crowd around her started to cheer and applaud and Ayces, blushing, got to blow out her candles. “Oh, I wish I get to see Wonderland soon,” she thought. Kitty got up as soon as all the candles were out to cut the cake. Of course had mischief in mind and as soon as her knife touched the cake a large hexplosion caused the entire group to be covered in delicious cake. Nobody took it badly though, giddy as they were, and started laughing, reaching for harekerchiefs to clean their faces. With the cake gone all that was left to do was open presents. Ayces was overwhelmed by all the amazing things she got:

-A talking mirror from Applewhite, to make sure she looked the fairest she could be in the morning

-A pair of fableous shoes from Ashlyn Ella, of course

-A new tea set from Maddie, courtesy of the “Mad Hatter’s Tea Shoppe”

-A deck of cards from Lizzie, for some reason all the cards were of the hearts suit, though

-Bookball tickets from Daring, Gee thanks…

-A bag full of Marshmallow Mice from Kitty, oddly enough half of them disappeared by the next day

-A Charming gold and diamond necklace from Zoe and Diamanty, they shouldn’t have spent so much

-A book on the locations of historical fairytale families from Hilda, Geografairy and History? Not too shabby

-A miniature, self-playing harp from Jace Bea, which would look wicked on her nightstand

-so many more that are too much to recount…

The party then went into full fling and they showed off their most wonderlandiful dance-moves, until they were so tuckered out that they had to say their good-byes and go home. In the end only the children of Wonderland remained, and Alistair came forward to hug his sister. Now the rest of them also left and Alistair walked with Ayces further into the grove and all of a sudden the Well of Wonder appeared. “Huh, what’s that doing here? Anyway, I just wanted to give you my gift.” Alistair turned to her and extended his hand. Ayces took what he held out for her and saw a simple card. It was simple, yet sweet. It said:

“Ayces.

I know we haven’t known each other very long, but the family bond between us is strong and I am glad to have a sister. Especially since you’re the most wonderiffic sister I could have asked for.

Happy Birthday

Alistair”

She sat down on the brim of the well, touched by his words. It was true, they didn’t know each other for very long, yet they still had a very deep connection. “Thank you,” she looked up at him and saw him smiling. He reached out to give her a hug, when the base of the well gave an almighty lurch and hurled her inside of it. But instead of a blank canvas she saw colors rushing by. Could it be? Was this the day? Her heart burst with happiness as she knew she was in for an adventure, following directly after the best birthday she had ever experienced.

The End…is just the beginning…

So I know it’s not yet your birthday where you are, but it is your birthday already where I am and I wanted to wish you a happy, happy birthday. What better way to do that, than to draw your character for you and write a little short story?

Alice in Wonderland has always been a coming of age story for me, one that has to do with change, mounting responsibility, but also more freedom about the choices you get to make, so I thought it was fitting to draw a character from that story. I know I made many mistakes (some things are missing, different patterns, and I think I misinterpreted the dots and gave her freckles), but I hope you like the picture anyway.
